Q: Please introduce yourself. And what course are you studying right now?
Hello, my name is Ton Aor Sopita Sae Lee, now I just finished my General English course at Milestones English, I’m going to continue my Certificate IV and Diploma of Marketing and Communication course at Education Center of Australia (EAC).
Q: Why did you choose it? Study in Australia
I think we have to stay in Thailand, work in Thailand, so I talked to our home that we wanted to go to practice languages and study abroad for a while So that we can experience and make us see the world more.
Q: How are the differences between studying English in Thailand and in Australia?
It’s very different When I studied in Thailand I studied English at Bangkok University, studied for 4 years, but I feel that using my language is a lot of memorization, I have to remember what Tense to use. Yes But when I came to study here We have learned to use the correct sentences. But when we use each other wrongly in Thailand And his teaching is not like that in Thailand Which cannot explain how But make us understand Until it can be used correctly For example, Thai people would like to say without subject, verb, objective, but we would say like Go eat something like this, which when teacher heard him would be like Yu, can’t say it like this, it’s wrong. And he will fix it for us Something like this that we don’t have to memorize Learn from using it. It will naturally speak
Q: At the moment, besides studying, I also work. What techniques for finding work abroad? And what kind of work
The job search technique is to find it yourself. Initially, I was looking for it on the Thai website, Aussietip, and got a job at a Thai restaurant. But after doing so, it felt like This is not our way. What should I call it? As we meet Thai people every day, they rarely practice the language. Because we speak Thai Mount Moy, but Thai language. But as I am very ambitious, I tried to get a job in a foreign restaurant. So I went to know one person, which was also with the rhythm A friend suggested that I go try it or not. So I went to try it out at a night club where all the staff are Aussie people. Which I can work and use English all the time Since then, I will choose more jobs. In which I would choose a job that really worked with Aussie people Or only foreigners Mainly now, I work at most foreign shops. As for Thai stores, they still do some. The shop also takes good care of it, such as food. But the labor cost may not be that much
Work at a western shop is not a regular job, it is a casual event. It is an Event. I want you to help me. That is, where I come here, the main thing is to focus on learning and experience. Is that we have already paid for the tuition if we think only to work It was tiring we went. Then some people are to focus on work. I did not enjoy life and told Australia I was not good, I want to go home, but for me, I am not like that. For me, if I work a lot in a week, I will tell my boss that in the day after tomorrow I want to stop. I’m tired, I want to rest. Aussie boss for casual work like me. Which we have been living like this for 6 months. So it makes us fun, wants to stay, be happy, is a very full option, both study, work, travel with, enjoy life, I feel that coming here is a way to live a life. Not coming to work, don’t see the moon, see the sun If I had done that, 5 months would have wanted to go home. And we like meeting people I want to have new friends, I want to use the language, so we have fun going to study, meeting working people, going on the first trip before I come. There are hundreds of thousands, but when actually coming, we can’t work many hours like some people. Because we are also a student
Q: And apply for a job at a foreign restaurant too, aren’t you afraid? Are there any obstacles in work?
I’ve met you at a Thai shop who are very hardworking and work very well. I asked him why you didn’t apply for a foreigner job. Get a better rate of wages He told me, I can’t do it, I’m not confident, that is, like me, he’s very good at work, but I’m afraid. I’m a confident person. When I’m interviewing for a job He asked if Yoo made this one. In my heart, I know that I can’t, but we tell him. We will have in mind that we will tell you every time you apply for a job. Well, I can’t do it. But give me 1 week full time and I’ll be fluent. Because we are confident And the more we said already We even want to do it. If we are confident that what we do will work out how well we can do it, do not look down on yourself. That is, I haven’t tried it yet.
As for the obstacles, there are some in .. the first western restaurant, they say anything, I only answer yes yes, which we do not really understand. But because we don’t want them to know that we can’t speak But after doing it for a while, we started to understand by ourselves. And the more we study as well, it can be used to train me to study now for 6 months, and then I started talking to him and learned about it since the first 3 months. And at school we have a lot of foreign friends, such as Colombian and Mexican, quite a lot of foreigners. He also wants to practice the same language as us. So it’s like International students let’s communicate if we don’t understand each other. We can’t communicate. It must be tried At first, we still have to use sign language and later communicate fluently.
Q: What do you like / dislike about life in Australia?
I like that everything here is very fair, for example, how many hours of work do I have to pay for, 1 hour and 15 minutes are paid as follows. But with the fairness, it is tight, that is, it doesn’t have any yuan, but it’s good. Because like in Thailand, we are like a little bit, help each other, but here is to do more than 15 minutes, then pay at all. So we don’t get taken advantage of. And here I have a lot of Aussie friends. He knows that we are students, not having much income. He can help anything, then help late at night, then drive to send something like this. It’s a small spirit that we don’t expect to meet here. Because I feel that some of the people we meet Is to have selfishness, what to say That is, we do not have that. But for some people, we don’t think that they will think of other people when meeting good people, so we don’t want to be selfish. Therefore had an idea that If we have, we can share a little something, we will share.
Q: Living in a foreign country, what lessons does it give us?
Freedom. It’s here. It’s very freedom. You can dress however you like. No one cares, but in Thailand. We must be considerate of others. But stay here I will wear whatever I want. Because everyone doesn’t care about us what kind of dress. And here we have met many kinds of people. Making us see the world more wide I met my Canadian friend. He was a baptist. He lived in a group of strange people as his own. He took food from the trash to eat. But the type is not going to rummage in the trash, ie he will choose leftover food or food that other people throw away. And if the weather is good He told the whole group to get off the cloth. And then that area will have only a lot of Europeans I met a vegan Spanish friend, and we talked to him why he ate. Made him understand his point of view Making our world very wide. And our viewpoint is not as narrow as in Thailand I feel that I get a lot. More than just studying, I have met a lot of different types of people, as I have met a lot of people, got a lot of connections, got a lot of friends. And I feel that having a connection is very important.
Q: What insights would you like to leave with people who want to study abroad but are afraid? Fear no friends Can’t be afraid Anything like this?
Seriously, before I came, I was afraid. I have been with my mom and dad for more than 20 years. When I wake up, I tell my mom, “Hungry.” But when he was here, he was alone. Just think about what we have to do by ourselves. However, we must live. Everyone can live. We must live. Before I came, my mother was worried. How do you live like a rat? What to do Because it is in Thailand Parents made me exhausted. And in Thailand, I never work. When I’m here, I work. But did not take seriously Just enough to have room, rice, school, I didn’t work to have hundreds of millions of savings. Because we were here for a short period of a few years, we weren’t here to grab the money in their country. But we came to gain experience It’s worth studying here. It is worth it to sit in fear at home and not dare to go once. If you stay in Thailand all your life Our view is very small. If I were in Thailand now, I wouldn’t have worked. Stays in the house. Come here, give me a lot of things. And the important thing that I have learned other than learning is choosing a job. I wouldn’t work just for the money. If I have to work hard at work that I’m not happy with Now I just don’t. Because I used to work that I didn’t want to do before. And I believe that there are many other places that suit us. Being here, I get a lot of perspective on life. That if going back to Thailand I will choose the work that I really want to do. We can see the meaning of life.
Q: I have shared my study and life experiences. What about your experience with Tycoon?
For example, I am about to extend. Until I felt considerate But on that day, I came to talk to elder May. Then I told me I was really considerate. Brother said, it’s okay, Nong Oh. I want to find a school that I am happy with. And then I paid money to come and study. He wants you to study that is suitable for me, and I will be happy with my studies. And the school that I chose since I came to is at MILESTONES ENGLISH, I am very happy. I have fun. I am happy when I go to school. I never skipped school so I met good teachers, good friends, and many foreign friends. Then he will look at what kind of school we like. Like a foreigner Therefore not a lot of Thai people look for as well
